Teacher Charged Over Fiji Grant Corruption Bailed With Conditions

School teacher Alvin Savendra Raju has been charged by FICAC for corruption, accused of submitting unauthorised applications for the Fiji Water Education Grant program in 2020, obtaining $7,000 for himself.

He is alleged to have submitted the application on behalf of two teachers without their knowledge.

Raju appeared before a Magistrates Court in Nadi yesterday. He was granted non-cash bail of $500, imposed conditions, and issued a stop departure order.

The first phase of disclosures was made, and the case is adjourned to May 20, 2023.
