SODELPA confirms CID visit, reassures members ahead of 2022 elections

Fiji’s main opposition party SODELPA is reassuring members and supporters that the visit by a Criminal Investigations Department officer to its office today, stemming from a complaint by MP Mosese Bulitavu, will neither hinder nor affect preparations towards the 2022 General Elections.

In a statement, SODELPA General Secretary Lenaitasi Duru said Bulitavu had lodged a complaint against him and party leader Viliame Gavoka resulting in the visit by the CID officer.

“This is a normal investigation procedure and SODELPA will cooperate with authorities as required by the law,” Duru said in a statement, “SODELPA trusts the legal system and will uphold the principles of natural justice and that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

“We urge our Party members and supporters not to be alarmed. This is a trivial matter and it will not derail the good work carried out this year and our preparation towards Elections 2022.”

Bulitavu reportedly lodged a complaint against the two accusing them of perjury.
