Fiji suspends daylight savings

Fiji will not be implementing daylight savings this year, for the second consecutive year having opted for the same in the last financial year.

Fiji’s Minister for Employment Praveen Bala said the decision to suspend daylight savings in the 2022-23 financial year stems from the need to ensure that students focus on their studies, particularly with external exams scheduled between late November and early December.

External exams are scheduled from 29 November to 15 December.

Schools will close for the holidays on 16 December.

This was the outcome of the consultation with relevant stakeholders after evaluating all submissions received.
