Twenty-five new coronavirus infections reported in Kadavu are among 290 cases reported overnight during which eight deaths were also confirmed, as Fiji’s death toll exceeds 500.
The new cases in Kadavu take total cases on the island to 257, whilst the eight new deaths – seven of which reported in the western division, means 504 people have died from the virus since 2020, 502 of them died in the outbreak that started in April.
Of the new cases, 128 are from the western division and 137 from the central division.
There have been 2,306 new recoveries since the last update, which means that there are now 17,124 active cases, 6,182 of them are in the central division, 10,680 in the western division, five in the northern division (Nabouwalu and Macuata), and 257 active cases in Kadavu. There have been 46,936 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021, totalling 47,006 cases in Fiji since the first case was reported in March 2020. There have also been 29,067 recoveries.

There have now been 504 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 502 of these deaths during the outbreak that started in April this year. As of 27 August 27, the national 7-day rolling average of COVID-19 deaths per day is six. The 7-day rolling average for COVID-19 deaths per day in the Central Division is 2 and in the Western Division, four.
NON-COVID-19 Deaths
There have also been 311 other COVID-19 positive patients who have died during the April outbreak after three more were recorded during the reporting period.
