Fiji’s Met Office says while weather models shows the possibility of a tropical cyclone occurring next week, it has not been identified in the satellite imagery to prompt monitoring and issuance of advisories.
In a statement issued this hour, the national weather office says: “Once the system in the satellite imagery, then the national weather forecasting centre will start monitoring the system.
“For now, since it almost a week out, weather models tend to have a lot of uncertainties in their predictions.”
In the meantime, the weather office says it will continue to monitor the weather and issue warnings and advisories if and when necessary.
