Water Authority respond to Kia island residents’ requests

Quick actions by the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) ensured residents of Kia Island have access to clean water.

WAF has also identified backup water sources for residents, work for which will begin in the future.

Residents reached out to WAF on 23 August. A team was deployed to the island on 25 August during which they carried out necessary repairs and servicing of the desalination plant allowing for the provision of water to residents the next day.

“We would like to thank the residents of Kia Island for promptly bringing their issues to our attention and for their patience and understanding while we fixed the issues and restored water,” said Manager Operations, Seru Soderberg. “At WAF, we value every single customer, regardless of their location, and we will do everything we can to continue developing water sources around Fiji so as to ensure that clean water is provided.”

“We have one more project underway and have also identified backup water sources for the residents of the island, for which work will begin in the future.”
