ADF begins rehab work at Lekutu Secondary School

Rebuilding works have begun at Lekutu Secondary School in Bua after a groundbreaking ceremony held at the site today.

Officiating at the event, Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima said this was a significant day for the people of Lekutu.

“Your (ADF) investment into this school will benefit not only the students of today but the future generations,” he said.

ADF’s Officer in Charge Major Donald Robertson said the group was privileged to be part of the project.

“Education is an integral part of Fiji and rebuilding this school is our way of ensuring that future generations are cared for in Lekutu and in Bua,” Major Robertson said.

Mata ni Tikina Lekutu Ovini Baleinamau welcomed the gesture.

“We thank the Australian Government for their commitment to build these classrooms for the children of Lekutu,” he said.

Eight classrooms, a dining room, ablution blocks, a boys hostel and four teachers quarters will be built as part of the rebuild by ADF.

Major Robertson said they will finish by 14 November and whatever work is left to be done will be completed next year.
