Fijiana 7s’ Reapi Uluinasau finished atop the DHL Impact Player Standings at the Langford 7s tournament where the national Fijiana sevens’ side beat Spain 26-7 to finish seventh.
The standings recognises players who make a difference in all areas of the game and critical to a team’s success on the pitch and at the recent Langford tournament, Uluinasau topped the table on 80 points.
Uluinasau is also Fiji’s top points scorer for the 2022 season with 77 points, of which 30 came from six tries she scored during the Langford tournament.
The side had to settle for the seventh place play-off in Langford, after losing to the home team Canada 19-26 in the fifth-place semi-final. The Fijiana ended up in the fifth-place semi-final after losing to France 14-31 in the Cup quarters, a placing they secured after an exceptional pool outing where they held New Zealand to a 12-all draw and thrashed England 38-5.
They picked up eight points from the tournament and are placed sixth on the overall standings heading to the final tournament on the Women’s 2022 Rugby 7s Series in Toulouse scheduled for 20-22 May.
The Langford outing was not the Fijiana’s best this season. They had finished as runners-up in the opening two tournaments of the 2022 series in Dubai held late November-early December last year.
