Tropical Disturbance TD08F located between New Caledonia and Vanuatu has a moderate chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours, Fiji Met says.
However, it is unlikely to pose any direct threat to Fiji, the weather office stated in its latest update.
Parts of Fiji however are expected to experience persistent heavy falls and are highly prone to flooding.
Places at risk include Kadavu, western and northern Viti Levu, the western interior of Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, northwest Vanua Levu, and western Vanua Levu as they are exposed to the moist northerly wind flow that prevails over the group.
Conditions are expected to improve from later Thursday and clear from Sunday, so too strong winds hovering over the group at this stage.
