Suva Zone II: Grammar dominates middle distance

Suva Grammar School’s dominance in the 400m and 4x400m cemented the lead they had through the day at the Suva Zone II which ended this hour at the ANZ National Stadium in Laucala.

Their boys won all of their races while their girls winning three out of four – subjunior, junior and senior grades.

It was their sub junior boys team of Waisiki Curuqara, Tomasi Mafi, Manoa Puamau and Vilivo Whippy that stood out having clocked a new record run of 3:56.70.

The old zone record stood 4:01.72. Meanwhile St Joseph’s Secondary School won the girls intermediate event.

Their medal haul in the relay did not come as a surprise. Earlier on Grammar won six out of eight 400m events.

The girls and boys won three grades being the sub-junior, junior and senior grades. Salome Teuruuru of Ratu Latianara prevented Grammar’s clean sweep in winning the inter girls 400m race.
