Former St Joseph’s Secondary School sprint queen and Queensland Reds winger, Helena Young, is expected to formalise a contract with Fiji Rugby Union today which will see her joining the Fijiana 7s squad.
Young is currently undergoing rehab and has begun training with the non travelling squad.
She is expected to make a possible debut at the Hong Kong 7s in April 2024 with the aim of securing a spot in the team that will prepare for the Olympic Games in France.
Young debuted for GPS, a rugby club in Sydney before signing up with the Reds.
She won gold for her event for St Joseph’s Secondary School at the national secondary school athletics event in 2018 and went on to runher personal best of 11.82 sec for the 100m for a silver medal at the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa and a gold in the 4 x 100m sprint relay.
