Fiji’s two main roads on Viti Levu are opened to traffic, others remain closed while some others partially opened because of damage sustained when category 4 Tropical Cyclone Harold tracked past the country on Wednesday.
Opened to motorists, are the Queens and Kings roads. Fallen trees and debris in certain areas of Viti Levu have prompted Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to impose lane restrictions.
“Road users are advised to please be mindful of the road conditions, our workmen and heavy machinery. Please follow all temporary traffic management plans in place and drive slowly,” FRA said in a statement.
FRA is assessing infrastructure damage in the maritime islands. In the Lau group, the Moala and Cicia jetties were severly affected.
Below are the lists of closed roads:
Northern division :
Bucalevu Crossing on Bucalevu Road in Navakaka,
Savusavu Wairiki Crossing on Navakuru Road in Suweni,
Zailav Crossing on Zailav Road, in Natua, Seaqaqa
