60 year old to face court for quarantine breach

A woman in her 60s will appear before a magistrates court in Suva today for allegedly failing to observe the mandatory 14-day self-isolation protocols after returning from overseas.

The woman, who has not been named, has been charged with one count of failure to comply with order.

Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said police were notified when she turned up to the Registrar of Marriage Office in Suva last month requesting for an urgent procedure of marriage

“It was discovered that she had just returned from the USA on March 23rd as per her travel itinerary and was supposed to be under self-isolation.

She was made to complete her 14-day self-isolation period before Police arrested her.
