Fijian winger Heleina Young was one of the standouts in the Reds’ dominant 45-22 victory over the Fijiana Drua in one of the final round-robin games of the Super W competition.
Making her Super W debut, Young’s exceptional performance included two crucial try assists and a sensational try of her own, where she showcased her blistering speed by racing over 40 meters in the 51st minute.
Young’s impact was felt from the very beginning of the game, as her impressive linebreaks in the opening minute resulted in Carola Kreis scoring the Reds’ first try, and later, Alana Elisaia crossing the whitewash in the 36th minute. Young was substituted out in the 56th minute.
The Fijiana Drua scored four tries during the match through Siteri Rasolea (18th minute), Litia Marama (20th minute), Merewai Cumu (43rd minute), and Vani Arei (60th minute). However, the Drua also received two yellow cards during the game, with Bitila Tawake and Joma Rubuti being shown yellow in the 24th and 46th minute respectively.
The defeat placed the Drua in fourth position in the standings, securing them a spot in the semi-finals where they are set to face off against the Waratahs this weekend. The other semi-final match will see the Reds taking on the Brumbies.
