PNG Pepes game is a must-win for Fiji Pearls

Fiji Pearls lost their third consecutive game last night and will need to win over the Papua New Guinea Pepes to avoid a wooden spoon finish in the PacAus Netball Series currently being held on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

The Pearls suffered a 34-58 defeat to the Australian Pathway at the USC Stadium, their third loss from three games after having lost their previous matches, 55-74 to the Tongan Tala and 56-69 to the Samoa Tifa Moana.

They currently occupy the second-last spot in the competition standings, one ahead of Papua New Guinea which is the only other team aside from Fiji that remains winless as well from three games. The two teams will be searching for their first win when they meet up tonight at 7pm (Fiji Time).

Regardless of the scores, it is a far cry from how the Fijiana performed in the first round of the series that was held in March in Sydney, where they finished second behind Tonga and ahead of Samoa and PNG.

The competition continues tomorrow with the final round of games to determine the top two finishers that will compete in the grand finale on Friday 21 October.
