Pfizer COVID vaccination for children starts in Lautoka

Fiji’s Ministry of Health reminds parents to ensure consent cards are signed and sent to their child’s school as coronavirus vaccination for five-year-olds begins in Lautoka today.

Vaccination for children between six and 11 years of age is expected to start next Monday when rollout for other parts of the West is scheduled to start as well.

Meanwhile, in the central division, the administration of the second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine continues for children aged 5 to 11 years in their respective schools. For the second dose, signed consent is not requested.

The administration of vaccines to children in this age group is being offered in schools during school hours otherwise it can be acquired from the health facilities on weekends and during the school holidays.

The health ministry estimates that nearly 133,000 children will be covered in this age group’s vaccination drive.

For the rest of the western division, the vaccination rollout for th will start next Monday 29 August.

Further to the start of the roll-out of vaccination to the 5 to 11 years in the Central Division, the 2nd dose has commenced from the 17th August 2022 which will be administered in the same school. For the second dose administration, signed consent is not requested.
