Officer fronts anti-corruption court

A police officer who is alleged to have solicited money from an individual appeared before the Anti Corruption Court this afternoon where he has been bailed.

Charged with one count of bribery, it is alleged that between 22 October and 9 November 2021, Magru solicited an advantage of $200 from a private individual “on account of abstaining from performing any act in his capacity as a public servant.”

FICAC State Counsel Lanieta More informed the court that the first phase of disclosures has been served.

Magistrate Kiran granted bail for Mangru of $1,000 non cash and ordered him to report to the FICAC Office every second Friday between 8am to 4pm.

Mangru was also ordered not to change his residential address, not to interfere with witnesses, and surrender all travel documents to the court.

A stop departure order has also been issued against him.

The matter has been adjourned to 22 December 2021 for the second phase disclosures to be served.
