New record set as SGS leads Suva Zone 2 athletics meet

Suva Grammar School leads the medal standings in both divisions in the Suva Zone two competition currently underway at the ANZ Stadium in Suva where a new record has also been set.

The new record was set by Mary-Jane Peters of Grammar in the Sub Junior Girls Discus with a throw of 26.79m, doing away with the old record set in 2019 by Senirewa Cakacaka also of SGS with a distance 23.82m.

Meanwhile, Suva Grammar’s Elijah Tokikivunuku and St Joseph’s Tokasa Gukirewa finished first in their respective Senior Boys and Senior Girls 100m final events at the Suva Zone 2 meet happening at the ANZ Stadium in Suva at the moment.

Tokikivunuku who was part of Team Fiji’s athletics extended squad to the Pacific Mini Games clocked 10.60s whilst Gukirewa clocked 12.51s.

Tevita Mocekinisau also of Grammar finished second in the boys’ 100m finals with a run of 11.09s whilst in the girls’ event, Sereana Seeto, also of SJSS, finished second, clocking 12.74s.
