LTA cautions motorists following spate of accidents

The Land Transport Authority of Fiji (LTA) is cautioning motorists to strictly follow all road safety rules and do their part in preventing deaths on Fijian roads.

This follows a series of road fatalities, including the death of a man in Lautoka, on Sunday.

“We are truly saddened by the loss of these lives, and we extend our deepest condolences to the families,” said LTA Acting CEO Irimaia Rokosawa.

“While investigations into the accident are still underway by authorities, we urge drivers to exercise caution at all times when on the road.”

“This is why our teams work hard to enforce road safety rules in the first place – to prevent needless deaths like these. By following the proper guidelines, tragedies like these can be avoided.”

Rokosawa urged drivers to always be vigilant and strive to create an environment where incidents like these do not take place.

“Our highest priority is to ensure the safety of everyone on Fijian roads, but we cannot do this alone. We can only prevent senseless tragedies like these if everyone does their part.”

“Always drive within the speed limit and keep your full attention on the road and your surroundings when driving – do not allow yourself to get distracted or it could become very costly for you or someone else.”

LTA was established to provide a safe land transport system for the nation in partnership with stakeholders, the Fijian Government and the community.
