MOE launches new learning curriculum

Fiji’s Ministry of Education launched a revised literacy and numeracy curriculum for years 1-4 in Suva today.

Minister for Education Premila Kumar said ECE and primary education are fundamental for a sound education as each contributes to laying the foundation in the latter year of education.

“Numeracy and literacy were definitely on our agenda. We’ve included civic and moral education and we are also removing the exams from ECB right up to year three,” Kumar said.

“We going to introduce Maths and English which you studied in your classes more interesting.”

She added that teachers have been trained in teaching strategies that are required in the delivery of this new numeracy and literacy curriculum.

The minister also thanked the Government of Australia for its continued support for children’s education.
