Market vendors charged over forged vaccination cards

Three people will be appearing in a magistrates court in Nausori today after they were found with forged vaccination cards.

The three who own stalls at the Nausori market, and are unvaccinated are believed to have bought forged vaccination cards to be able to operate their stalls after the Nausori Town Council directed that only vaccinated vendors would be allowed through from 1 August 2021 as per the ‘No Jab No Entry’ policy.

“It was then brought to the council’s attention that vendors had allegedly been purchasing vaccination cards sold within the market,” police said.

“Investigators from the Investigation Department’s Economic Crime Unit allegedly discovered vaccination cards in their possession.”

Police then followed up with the Ministry of Health and found that the trio was unvaccinated.

They have been charged with one count each of Possession of Forged Documents, contrary to section 158(1) of Crimes Act 2009.
