THE Draunimasi community in Tavua can now access adequate water supply from the newly completed irrigation water source.
The irrigation will cater the water needs of the farming community during the dry periods.
Minister of Waterways and Environment Mahendra Reddy highlighted that the project is part of the ministry’s irrigation support for farm development.
“To realize this, the Government has undertaken major investments catering to long-term water supply needs.”
“Resources are being allocated for the construction of new water treatment plants, reticulation systems, and reservoirs to increase supply capacity in major urban centers.
“This project is one such simple innovation that did not cost a fortune and yet this would cater to the entire community not just for now but for years to come.”
“This marks the testimony that we would like to leave behind for our community,” Minister Reddy said.
Dr Reddy added that the new irrigation project will allow cluster farming, sharing of resources and services and improve farming activities in the community.
The Ministry had invested $22,140.03 into the project to assist the community.
