Heavy rain and strong winds warnings are in force for the North of Fiji as a result of tropical disturbance TD09F that has up to a 20% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
Located to the north of Fiji, the system brings strong winds and heavy rain which will become frequent and heavy later today, particularly over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and the Lau group. Strong winds should be expected as well.
Elsewhere, cloudy periods and showers are to be expected, and will likely become frequent from Wednesday.
Continuous heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.
According to Fiji weather office’s outlook, from Wednesday, the system will have up to 50% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
