Fiji’s governing party, FijiFirst today named its first batch of proposed candidates to contest the country’s 2022 General Elections.
Among the 20 named were former police and corrections boss Iowane Naivalurua, former Fiji military commander Viliame Naupoto, former journalists Watisoni Raikadroka and Aliki Bia, former LTA Chief Executive Naisa Tuinaceva and Smart Farms Foundation Director Rinesh Ram, 29.
Meanwhile, out of the party’s 27 sitting MPs, only one has not applied.
Also named by FijiFirst were Meleti Raimuria, former GM Operations Fiji Pine Asesela Cokanacagi, lawyer Ratu Josaia Niudamu, academic Hem Chand, dentist Penioni Koliniwai Ravunawa, former police officer Penijamini Vukivou, former Fiji Parliament staff Jacob Joseph Abraham, former assistant principal Shalen Kumar, former Fiji CAne Growers Association Mohammed Rafiq, former teacher Elaine Veena Chandra, social worker Zarina Begum Reece, former teacher Vereniki Sauturaga, and former teacher and president of Fiji Disabled People’s Federation Peniasi Rawaidranu.
