Residents of some parts of Waila in Nausori and a settlement in Tacirua woke up this morning to the news that they cannot leave and barricades erected at the entrance leading into their area.
More than 25 houses are located within the cordoned off area at Veivauceva Settlement in Tacirua, and in Waila, the entrance to Waila Housing.
As with some of the previous cases, such moves indicate that the cases, suspected or confirmed, are high-risk in nature.
The Ministry of Health confirmed the measures taken in Waila this morning but did not disclose whether it stems from findings/investigation into existing positive cases or whether it is a new cluster altogether.
In a statement released a short while ago, the Fijian Government confirmed the set up of “screening and isolation zones” in Waila and Tacirua, and that they have also expanded the Muanikoso cordoned-off zone.
“There are also households in isolation in Samabula and Tacirua. The Ministry of Health will conduct ongoing investigations and responses over the next few days which will be visible to the public. “
