Fiji’s Ministry of Health announced eight new cases this evening – one from Muanikoso in Nasinu, but linked to Vunimono/Nadali cluster and the other seven, from a household in Samabula which authorities have yet to link to an existing cluster.
The new Muanikoso case is not linked to the existing cluster from the area stemming from the Extra Supermarket female employee. Authorities only found out about the Samabula cluster after a woman presented herself to Samabula Health Centre. Six other members of her household also tested positive.
The new cases have prompted authorities to launch an extensive investigation and screening tonight relating to the cases in Muanikoso and Samabula.
The eight new cases bring to 11 the total cases announced today, following three that were reported earlier today.
Meanwhile three more patients have recovered, which bring the total active case numbers to 69. Fiji has had 206 cases in total with 133 recoveries and four deaths.
