Coronavirus cases in Fiji hit a record daily high with 24 cases reported in the last 24 hours, of which 18 were reported at around 12midday and six more this evening.
Of the six new cases, two are from Muanikoso in Nasinu and are primary contacts of other cases. The next four cases tested positive while in quarantine and are primary contacts of one of the Extra Supermarket employee cases.
The total number of cases today is double the previous highest at 12, since Fiji’s first case on 19 March 2020. Of the 18 cases that were reported earlier today, 10 were recorded in Waila – “from two related families”, four from a household in Tacirua, two from a household in Muanikoso, one is a contact of the Samabula cluster, and the 18th is an Extra Supermarket worker who tested positive on their final swab in quarantine.
There are now 92 active cases in isolation. Fiji has had 230 cases in total, with 134 recoveries and four deaths since the first case in March 2020.
