Election officials must remain honest at all times and ensure that all procedures prescribed by the Fijian Election are followed to the letter, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem reminded trainees at the launch of the first elections training today as part of preparations towards Fiji’s 2022 General Elections.
Welcoming attendees to the Suva-based training, Saneem said that election officials determine the credibility of each election.
“It is important that you ensure that you carry out your roles diligently and in a manner that is not only done – but is seen by the members of the public to have been done right,”Saneem said.
Attendees comprise of successful applicants from FEO’s first recruitment drive who have the opportunity to proceed to the presiding officers training based on their performance.
The training is the first of 760 sessions that will be held through 15 April involving approximately 15,000 individuals. The sessions are also being held in the West at the Ba Holdings Conference room in Lautoka, and in the North, at the Labasa Scouts Hall.
The 2022 General Elections can take place anytime between 9 July 2022 and 9 January 2023.
