Fijian Drua duo halfback Philip Baselala and flanker Motikai Murray are among 30 players including eight who are based overseas named to represent Fiji at the World Rugby U20 Championship in South Africa this month.
Murray has also been chosen to captain the side which includes Mosese McGoon and Sitiveni Tamani, Judah Saumaisue, Waisea Tudulu, Sakiusa Kama, Frank Ralogaivau and Isaiah Ravula and Epeli Waqaicece.
“The team has prepared really well and is looking forward to the championship. We have had players who were also part of the Fijian Warriors and their experience has really boosted the side,” coach Ifereimi Rawaqa said.
Fiji is grouped with Australia, England, and Ireland, a pool that Rawaqa says is critical that they adopt a cautious and strategic approach.
“We are focusing on our first game which is against Australia.”
The age-grade world rugby event is scheduled for Jun 24 – Jul 14.
