Fiji Men’s Volleyball Takes on Reigning Champs Tahiti in Pacific Games Opener

Fiji, yet to secure a gold medal in volleyball at the Pacific Games, enters their first game today unranked, having sat out the 2019 edition.

Despite aspirations for success in the 2023 Pacific Games, their initial challenge is formidable, facing reigning champs Tahiti at 8 pm (FJT).

Tahiti clinched gold in 2019 in Apia, Samoa.

The Fiji men’s team previously claimed silver in 1999 and bronze in 1995 and 1963.

The Pacific Games 2023, hosting athletes from over 20 countries in 360 events across 27 sports, begins in Honiara, Solomon Islands today through December 2.

This marks the country’s inaugural hosting of Oceania’s continental Games in the 17th edition.

Volleyball is one of four sports scheduled to start today alongside Tennis, Basketball, and Football.
