Fiji Juniors Shine in Tennis Championship

Fiji’s junior tennis players made an impressive impact at the West Pacific Regional Championship in Vanuatu, securing numerous medals and gaining recognition for their outstanding performances.

One standout player, Niconia Wivou, was honored with the Oceania Junior Tennis Team Best Sportsmanship Award.

The tournament, which ended yesterday in Port Vila, featured competitive teams from the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Vanuatu, and Fiji.

Fiji’s junior tennis team excelled in various categories, with the U14 boys’ doubles, U16 girls’ doubles, U16 girls’ singles, and under-12 girls’ doubles all earning well-deserved gold medals.

In addition, team coach Andrew Mailtorok was recognised for his leadership and dedication to the sport. He received a special award in recognition of his outstanding contributions.

A West Pacific squad has been named to compete against teams from the North Pacific and East Pacific at the Pacific Oceania Junior Championship, scheduled to take place in Lautoka on July 10-19.
