Fiji grouped with Wales and Wallabies for RWC2023

The Flying Fijians will face Wales and Australia in the pool stages of the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France; a repeat of 2019 RWC proceedings.

Rugby World Cup confirmed pools for the 10th edition of the 15s rugby competition in Paris this morning, which sees Fiji grouped with the Welsh and Wallabies in Pool C.

Fiji also played Wales and Australia in the 2019 pool stages, losing to both teams – 29-17 and 39-21 to finish third in their pool, ahead of Georgia and Uruguay.

The Flying Fijians are one of 12 teams that have qualified for the tournament so far, with eight more teams to be finalised by November 2022. The 20 teams are divided into four pools of five, with the top two qualifying for the quarterfinals.

The tournament is scheduled for 8 September to 21 October 2023 across 10 French cities. Detailed fixtures are expected be announced at the end of February 2021.

RWC 2023 – Pool A: New Zealand, France, Italy, Americas 1, Africa 1. Pool B: South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, Asia/Pacific 1, Europe 2. Pool C: Wales, Australia, Fiji, Europe 1, Final Qualifier Winner. Pool D: England, Japan, Argentina, Oceania 1, Americas 2.
