Fiji Elections: Voter registration drive planned for this weekend

The Fijian Elections Office will be holding another snap voter registration drive in 23 locations across the country this weekend, starting tomorrow.

Eleven will be opened in the central division, five in the North, and seven in the West.

The exact venues which will be opened on 29-30 October are outlined below and Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says it will be an opportune time for those who recently turned 18 to register.

“All you have to do is to visit one of these hotspots with your birth certificate and an already registered adult preferably your parents who can verify you and you can be registered to vote in the general election,” Mr. Saneem said.

The election officials will also be attending to other voter-registration services including queries on polling venues and registration of eligible persons over 18 who have yet to register as well.

As of 2 October, the number of registered voters for Fiji’s General Election stands at 691,824.
