The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) today convened a full-day workshop for political parties and independent candidates for the 2022 General Election logistics and operations.
During the workshop FEO Director of Operations Anaseini Senimoli and Supervisor of Elections (SoE) Mohammed Saneem updated the political parties on the details of all the operations, logistics plans, and delivery mechanisms for the upcoming election including the pre-poll schedule and how it would be conducted.
Mr. Saneem also discussed the itinerary for political parties including all access areas and processes in place.
“The FEO had invited all political parties to participate with up to five (5) members from each political party entitled to be present at the venue,” Mr. Saneem said.
The full-day event concluded with a demonstration by FEO on the counting and reconciliation of ballot papers at the end of polling day.
“This critical demonstration was facilitated for political parties’ understanding of the counting process and also to assist them in familiarizing themselves with the process so that they could determine the manner in which they will undertake scrutiny of count following the conclusion of polling on Election Day,” Mr. Saneem said.
“Counting will be done manually and results will be transmitted by Presiding Officers on the Protocol of Results sheets which are duly signed by them and physically transmitted to the Results Center to be input into the Results Management System.”
