A 61-year-old man from Koronubu in Ba died after he was hit by two vehicles along the Queens Road near Malolo in Nadi late last night.
The incident happened close to midnight.
According to Fiji Police, the deceased was a passenger in a car driven by a 48-year-old farmer from Toge in Ba, which was stopped during a traffic operation after they were found to be speeding in a 60 km/hr zone.
Whilst traffic officers were processing the 48-year-driver, the victim got off the vehicle and while crossing the road to where the Police traffic officers were, was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle and due to the impact landed on the opposite lane where he was hit by another vehicle.
The victim was taken to the Nadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are searching for the owner of the first vehicle as investigations continue.
