FICAC is investigating ex-Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) CEO Abdul Khan, prompted by intelligence from the Fiji Intelligence Unit, not due to a complaint from FSC, the country’s anti-corruption body says.
In a statement issued today, FICAC stated that they could not divulge finer details to safeguard the investigation’s integrity.
It also confirmed thata recent complaint from the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry concerning alleged abuse of office by the FSC Board in the 2016 Tropical Cyclone Winston Insurance Claim is pending legal assessment.
FICAC assures thorough investigations, acknowledging that some cases may be complex and require an extended timeframe for document review and witness verification.
