Electoral Commission to meet with Fiji political parties

Fiji’s Electoral Commission will meet with registered political parties this week leading up to the 2022 General Elections.

The meeting scheduled for this Thursday at the Fijian Elections Office will be the first between the two parties ahead of next year’s election.

Electoral Commission Chair Suresh Chandra said among other things, the commission will inform political parties of the processes that will be undertaken leading up to the elections.

“We will also be talking about ongoing election-related matters such as current reforms in the law in parliament as well as discussing the calendar of electoral events,” Chandra said.

The meeting will double as an opportunity for political parties to raise issues and matters they would like discussed.

“Each political party has been requested to contribute agenda items as well.”
