Defending champions Fijiana Drua pulled off a sensational upset over the weekend, defeating favourites and top-ranked NSW Waratahs 20-17 to secure their spot in the Super W Final.
The rematch of last year’s final saw the Tahs dominate the opening quarter to take a commanding 17-0 lead. However, the Drua fought back with 20 unanswered points, starting with a powerful try from Siteri Rasolea, who carried multiple defenders over the line.
The Drua will defend their title against Heleina Young’s Reds squad, who secured their place in the final with a narrow 22-20 win over the Brumbies.
The Super W final is scheduled for this Saturday at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
