Flying Fijians Head Coach Mick Byrne has offered his blessings to Fijian Drua duo Selestino Ravutaumada and Iosefo Masi as they join the team that is headed to the Paris Olympics to defend the the gold medal in the rugby 7s code.
Byrne said the boys were initially given the choice and he respected the decision Masi and Ravutaumada have made.
“Initially they had indicated joining the Flying Fijians but after a while they came back and said they wanted to go to help the 7s team. I respect that and I wish them and the team the best as they prepare to go and defend the gold medal.”
Byrne said they will miss the services of the Taveuni men but the other players Flying Fijian should be able to cover their positions.
