Indian Government donates medical supplies

April 11, 2022

The Indian Government today donated to Fiji’s Ministry of Health over FJ$325,000 worth of medical supplies including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), N95 Masks, Tuberculosis Medicine, and the second tranche of the AntiRetro Viral (ARV) drugs.

Officiating at the handover, Fiji’s Minister for Health Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete thanked the Indian Government for its unwavering support amidst contending with its own COVID-19 battle.

“This coordinated initiative …will complement the work of our health care professionals and front-liners who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation and for your leadership and unwavering commitment to Fiji,” Dr Waqaibete said.

“As we head into the future in the new normal, we don’t know what is in store for us or when will we get the next variant and the next wave.

“What we know, however, is that we will overcome what’s coming, when we work together and help each other to achieve our goal in keeping our people protected. You may be asked again to lend a hand and I am hoping that you will agree to step in again and help in whatever capacity you can.”

Meanwhile, the first tranche of ARV drugs was received by the ministry on 1 December, 2021 on the occasion of World AIDS Day.
