Fiji Barbarians defeated Police Blue 33-7 in the Cup final to win the 2022 Fiji Bitter Marist 7s title at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.
Heading into the final, Fiji Barbarians defeated Fiji Warriors 17-10 whilst Police Blue accounted for Army Green 24-0 in the second semi-final.
Earlier in the day, Army Green defeated favorites All Blacks in the third cup quarterfinals, thanks to a try via Lemeki Bolayara taking the scores to 24-19 at full-time.
Meanwhile in other quarter finals, Fiji Barbarian beat Blue Diamond 21-5, Tabadamu lost to Fiji Warriors 12-19, Police Blue wins against Police White 35-19
In the women’s competition, Army won after a 34-10 victory DXC Seahawks, and Dominion Brothers accounted for AJ Pallets Ba River 15-0 to claim the U21 title.
The day also marked the launch of a commemorative new seven-dollar note in honour of the Fiji men’s and women’s 7s teams’ that won gold and bronze respectively at the Tokyo Olympics last year.
