The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is joining relief efforts to the people of Tonga following the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai volcano two weeks ago.
ADRA is providing immediate cash grants to families so they can meet their most urgent needs, whether that is access to clean water, shelter, or food.
The response effort is spearheaded by ADRA South Pacific with the support of ADRA Global Network and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Fiji is also mobilizing assistance in the form of food kits and WASH kits, in collaboration with the Fiji Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, to be shipped across to Tonga this week.
Because there is no ADRA Office in Tonga, the ADRA regional office will again collaborate with the Tongan SDA Church Mission as per practice in previous disasters. ADRA is currently exploring additional opportunities with other partners in Tonga who have the capacity to respond.
