A 19-year-old man was killed when the vehicle he was travelling in veered off the road along Waikete Road yesterday.
The deceased, and the 20-year-old driver, both from Waikete village, were travelling along Waikete Road when they were stopped by a man from the same village who asked to be dropped off at Bau Road.
Police believe that the driver may have been speeding and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go off-road.
“The victim’s body was retrieved by National Fire Authority Officers.
The road death toll currently stands at 11 compared to 21 for the same period last year.
