Muanikoso in Nasinu will not be put on lockdown despite five members of a household in the area testing positive for coronavirus, Fiji’s Ministry of Health says.
The ministry credited the family’s adherence to home quarantine directives on Tuesday 11 May since being identified as being at risk of contracting the virus through a female member of the household who works for Extra Supermarket.
“It is believed that she contracted the virus from the case at her place of work and then it spread within her household. The investigation by the response team has highlighted that her entire household also placed themselves in-home quarantine from 11th May; they remained at home, and enlisted the support of their extended family to maintain their quarantine; dropping groceries at their gate during the quarantine period.”
Meanwhile, one new COVID-19 patient has recovered today, which means there are now 61 active cases in isolation facilities of which two are border quarantine cases.
