A 31 year old woman from Lautoka contracted COVID19 from a Zumba session with Fiji’s first patient.
Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama made the announcement this hour and used the opportunity to scold flight attendants including the first patient.
The PM said the initial statement given by the first patient was incorrect and made contact tracing difficult.
Further he said 36 Fiji flight attendants who were directed to quarantine themselves at a Nadi hotel would be investigated and charged accordingly following allegations they did not self isolate.
“Is this a joke to you? What in Gods name are you thinking?” PM Bainimarama said.
In his strongest COVID19 address yet, Bainimarama said some Fijians were “spitting on the efforts” of others working to contain the speed of the Virus.
“FIJI is at war with the Coronavirus. We can not see our enemy but we must assume the enemy is in our midst at all times.”
