Coach Happy with Team Initiative; Ikanivere Cleared to Play

April 3, 2024

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua co captain Tevita Ikanivere has been cleared to play again even after copping a yellow card which was later upgraded to a red card for dangerous tackle in the game against Western Force last Saturday in Lautoka.

Head Coach Mick Byrne expressed relief that the co-captain has not been banned.

“Decision has been confirmed and Tevita has been cleared and can play again.”

Byrne said that he was pleased with the team training and in particular an initiative that the team took for themselves.

“We got into training again on Monday and today was meant to be the boys day off. But they took it upon themselves and organized themselves to come for full training and I commend them for doing that, coming in on their day off to train.”

“That shows me that they are serious and mean business about the game against the Melbourne Rebels this weekend.”

The match against Melbourne Rebels will be at AAMI Park in Melbourne on Friday at 8.35pm.
