Fiji’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Fiji has suspended three officers in the West accused of engaging in a scam whereby close to 90 taxi permits were issued illegally.
The matter has been referred to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for investigations and efforts are underway to retrieve these permits.
In addition, LTA Acting LTA CEO Irimaia Rokosawa says they are enhancing internal systems, implementing stricter controls, and considering an electronic permit issuance system to prevent future incidents.
