Deaf Rugby Fiji players and coaches recently participated in a two-day training session at Albert Park in Fiji, where they had the opportunity to learn from renowned Australian Head Deaf Rugby coach David Kearsey, as well as Wallabies legends Radike Samo and Lote Tuqiri.
The training session served as a valuable experience for the Fijian players and coaches, allowing them to gain insights from some of the industry’s best.
The presence of Kearsey, Samo, Tuqiri, and Queensland Reds players underscored the strong bond between Fiji and Australia, as well as the PacificAus Sports partnership and Rugby connection.
Expressing his thoughts on the event, David Kearsey, the Australian Head Deaf Rugby coach, stressed the significance of sports for people of all abilities. He expressed his delight in working with the talented and passionate Deaf Rugby Fiji players and coaches, considering it an honor to share his knowledge and experience with them as they prepare for the upcoming Deaf Rugby World Cup.
“It has been the highlight of the PacificAus Sports Vuvale Week,” he said.
Samo and Tuqiri echoed the sentiments, praising the dedication and passion displayed by the Deaf Rugby Fiji players and coaches.
“They are a credit to Fiji and to the sport of Rugby,” they said.
