A low pressure system expected to form near Vanuatu later this week could develop into a tropical cyclone, according to Fiji’s weather office tropical cyclone 5-day outlook.
“[Once formed], the low is expected to have very low chance of forming into a tropical cyclone however this is expected to increase to low from Saturday 29 January,” it stated.
The Fiji Met Service office says it will continue to monitor the weather closely and issue forecasts and warnings when necessary.
Meanwhile the forecast through midnight Thursday, some showers are expected over the eastern parts of the group with isolated afternoon thunderstorm. Elsewhere, afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms are likely. Across the group, isolated heavy falls are possible as well.
