My Brothers Are My Inspiration, Younger Sister of Flying Fijian Captain Says

Seleima Vuidravuwalu knows that she has big shoes to fill when she captains her provincial team in the Royal Tea Ranadi Cup competition this weekend when they play against Malolo in the opening round in Nadi.

The younger sister of Flying Fijians captain Waisea Nayacalevu and Avenusi Vasuinubu who are both plying their trade in France, Vuidravuwalu was inspired by her older brothers’ achievements.

“I’m the youngest of 5 and ever since I was a little girl all I remember is that rugby was always a huge thing in our family. With my parents and the support of my brothers, my brothers made it into the national 7s teams, and ever since then my interest in the sport grew.

“My brothers are my inspiration. I want to play my rugby the best way I know how and I hope to make them and my family and yasana proud too one day.”

In the second round of competition, Kadavu will host Serua at Namalata District School grounds, and the week after face Ba at the Vinod Patel grounds.

“We are going into this competition wanting to learn and gain experience and we will try our best to make it to the top at the end of the season,” she added.
